The Single Family section awards funds under state and federally funded programs to assist units of general local governments, public housing authorities, nonprofits, and local agencies in the provision of assistance to low-income Texans with a focus on housing and housing-related assistance and services. Single Family Programs do not provide any services directly to individuals, but may provide referrals though Help for Texans.
Programs
HOME funded Single Family programs include Homebuyer Assistance with New Construction, Homeowner Reconstruction Assistance, Contract for Deed, Tenant-Based Rental Assistance, and Single Family Development. The HOME Program also offers a special set-asides of funding for provision of HRA or TBRA for the purposes disaster relief or assisting persons with disabilities.
The AYBR Program is funded by the Texas Housing Trust Fund and provides for Persons with Disabilities who need modifications to increase accessibility and eliminate hazardous conditions in their home.
The Bootstrap Program is funded by the Texas Housing Trust Fund and is a self-help housing construction program that assists low-income households (Owner-Builders) to purchase or refinance real property on which to build or repair housing by contributing the labor themselves.
The CSHC Program is provides HUD funding to designated counties for operation of Colonia Self-Help Centers. The CHSC Program primarily provides funding for housing, operations of the Centers, outreach, and education.
The NSP is a one-time HUD-funded program initially authorized by the “Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008.” The purpose of the Neighborhood Stabilization Program is to acquire and redevelop foreclosed properties that might otherwise become sources of abandonment and blight.
