Our compliance monitors and inspectors spend a lot of time at TDHCA properties, evaluating and ensuring that the development adhere to rules governing multifamily housing programs funded through TDHCA. When those same property owners and their management offices arrange their compliance reviews effectively and correctly, their efforts can result in an A+ in our books!

Over the summer, the following affordable housing properties really stood out from the rest because of either a high development score or being prepared to assist TDHCA during the review process.

  • Gala at Premier (Plano): scored a 100 on their UPCS inspection
  • LULAC West Park Apartments (Corpus Christi): On-site staff available and ready for TDHCA inspection
  • Tealwood Place Apartments (Wichita Falls): scored a 99 on the last inspection
  • Heritage Place (Jacksonville): scored a 99 on the last inspection

More than 2,700 properties make up the TDHCA portfolio—properties built or rehabilitated using funding from one or more of our multifamily housing programs (i.e., low-income housing tax credits, Multifamily Direct Loans, private activity bonds, etc).

Staff perform file reviews looking to ensure properties are within the correct income and rent limits associated with the property, as well as inspecting the physical aspects of the property as outline by their agreement to provide affordable housing (called a Land Use Restriction Agreement or LURA).

So, let’s hear it for these property owners for making sure their developments are some of the best affordable housing options in the state!
