Overview of the Governing Board

The policy-making body of the Division is a five-member board, appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the Texas Senate. The members hold office for staggered terms, with the terms of two or three members expiring on January 31 of each odd-numbered year. Members must be registered voters and may not hold another public office. These are non-salaried positions and the Governor designates the chair.

Biographical Information

Ronnie Richards of Clear Lake Shores is co-owner of Butler’s Courtyard, a wedding and reception venue in League City’s Historic District. Richards retired after a 45 year career as vice president of marketing for American Homestar Corporation. He is president of the Clear Lake Shores Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors and serves on the League City Hotel Occupancy Tax Advisory Board. Additionally, he is active in the League City Regional Chamber of Commerce and is past president of the League City Historical Society. Richards received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston. His term expires on January 31, 2029.

Joe Gonzalez of Round Rock is originally from the Rio Grande Valley. He moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising in 1995. He received a Master’s in Business Administration from Texas State University in San Marcos in 2002. He is currently serving as the Chair of the Scholarship Committee for the Texas Exes Hispanic Alumni Network. And, after a long career in real estate, he is still a Licensed Real Estate Broker and is an Associated Broker with Austin Absolute Realty. His term expires on January 31, 2027.

Keith C. Thompson of Lubbock is an attorney and principal at The Law Office of Keith C. Thompson, PC. He focuses on business, commercial and real estate law. Thompson received a Bachelor of Business Administration from California State University, San Bernardino a Master of Business Administration and Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business and Texas Tech University School of Law. Thompson previously owned a real estate development company that built manufactured housing subdivisions. Thompson is a problem solver. His goal with every client is to formulate reasonable solutions for difficult and challenging situations. A Lubbock Texas resident of over 20 years, Thompson strives to provide the sophistication and expertise of any large firm, and the comfort and appeal of personal relationship. He enjoys a variety of outdoor activities and is actively involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. His family, including a wife and 3 children, are very dear to him. On any given weekend, Keith's kids and friends gather for fun at the Thompson household. His term expires on January 31, 2029.
