TDHCA celebrates the long-standing partnership with our state’s community action agencies
The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) has a long history of partnering with community action agencies (CACs), relying on their commitment to help residents and improve their communities. To celebrate that partnership and in the spirit of Community Action Month (the month of May), TDHCA would like to call attention to just a few of the positive ways in which community action agencies help the Department successfully deliver on a shared mission—to serve extremely low to moderate income households with programs focused on preserving homeownership, supporting community and energy assistance initiatives, and addressing essential housing needs.
Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)
TDHCA works with community action agencies to assist households in meeting their immediate energy needs, including paying utility bills, and educating consumers on controlling energy costs. Through CEAP, community action agencies served more than 225,000 households in 2023*.
Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP)
WAP allows for the installation of weatherization measures to increase energy efficiency in a home and help reduce the energy cost burden for low-income households. TDHCA’s network of CACs perform weatherization services that collectively cover all 254 counties in Texas, and assisted more than 2,500 households in 2023*.
TDHCA encourages all Texans to join and help celebrate the hard work and dedication of our state’s CACs!
